The Jordanian Investor Confidence Index Improved in 2020

The Jordanian Investor Confidence Index issued by the Jordan Strategies Forum increased to 134.3 points in October 2020, after its value was 133.1 in September 2020. According to the report issued by the forum, Jordan is still recovering from the Corona crisis, and the wheel of economic rotation has not returned to its normal level.

According to the report, the confidence in economic activity index decreased by 5.40 to reach 115.6 points in the current month. The registered companies' capital increased from 1.27 million dinars in September 2020 to 2.30 million dinars in October 2020.

The number of registered companies decreased from 105 companies registered in September 2020 to 97 companies in October 2020, and the industrial production index decreased from 86.24 points in September 2020 to 84.34 points in October 2020.

Also, the number of residential building permits granted decreased from 2,168 licenses in September 2020 to 1,906 licenses in October 2020, and property sale tax revenues witnessed a decrease from 5.00 million dinars in September 2020 to 4.00 million dinars in October. 2020.

The index of confidence in the monetary system increased by 8.96 points, to reach 199.3 points in October 2020, compared to 190.3 points in September 2020.

The value of the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves decreased from 13.9 billion dinars in September 2020 to 13.1 billion dinars for the month of October 2020, and the interest rate differential between the dinar and the dollar has remained constant at 2.41% since September 2020.

The value of bounced checks decreased from 118.0 million dinars for the month of September 2020 to 92.8 million dinars in the month of October 2020. The confidence in the financial system index increased from 100.0 points in September to 106.8 in October 2020, as the stock market index decreased by 48.98 points to 2,869.54 points in October 2020.

The ratio of the value of shares purchased on the Amman Stock Exchange by foreign investors to shares increased to 116% in October 2020, compared to 84% in September 2020, and the growth rate of credit granted to the private sector increased from 0.1% in April. 2020 to 0.3% in October 2020.
