Qatar 's Trade Surplus Reaches QR 11.7 billion in October

Qatar's merchandise trade balance achieved a surplus of QR 11.7 billion in October, registering a decrease of QR 7.3 billion or 38.4% compared to the same month of last year, and a decrease of QR 1.2 billion or 9.1%. compared to the previous month (September 2019).

According to a report issued by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, the total value of the Qatari exports (exports of local origin and re-exports) amounted to about QR 20.0 billion, a decrease of 30.3 percent compared to the same period last year, and a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to the previous month (September 2019).

The value of merchandise imports decreased during October 2019 to reach about 8.4 billion riyals, a decrease of 14.7% compared to October 2018 and increased by 11.7% compared to September 2019.

The United States topped the list of the countries of origin for the imports of the State of Qatar in October 2019 with about 1.1 billion riyals, or 13.5% of the total value of commodity imports, followed by China with 1.1 billion riyals, or 12.6%, then Germany with a value of 0.8 billion riyals or 9.0 percent.
