Saudi Central Bank Assets Grew 1.8 percent

Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) monthly data showed assets’ rise to 1.964 trillion at the end of May, compared with 1.930 trillion riyals in the same period last year representing a growth of 1.8 percent, while the assets rose by 34 Billion riyals on annual basis.

On a monthly basis SAMA assets rose by 45 billion riyals, which was 1.919 trillion riyals in April, up 2.3 percent.

The total assets of the banking system at the end of last month rose to 3.875 trillion riyals, compared to 3.754 trillion riyals at the end of May last year, up 3.2 percent.

The data revealed also that the value of bank liabilities from the government rose to SR 349.2 billion, compared to 281.6 billion riyals in May last year. On a yearly basis, bank lending to the private sector rose to 1.47 trillion riyals, compared to 1.42 trillion riyals in the same period last year, compared to 1.45 trillion riyals a month earlier.
