The value of FDIs in the MENA region has declined drastically due to the political and security events witnessed since 2011.

In this context, the Chairman and General Manager of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL), Nabil Itani, said, "Foreign Investments to Lebanon fell by 40 percent between 2010 to 2017, from 4.9 billion dollars in 2010 to 2.6 in 2017," but stayed optimist and added, "The declining rate in the flux of FDIs to Lebanon, however, remains better than that of the other countries in the MENA region. "

He affirmed, "We remain confident on the available opportunities especially in terms of laws and incentives that sponsor Foreign Investments. I believe that Lebanon can recover from the losses it previously encountered, based on its ability to deal with crises. We will improve the investment climate as we have always done. The new Government must be formed as soon as possible, as it will give Foreign, Arab and Lebanese investors the required confidence."
