Arab Civil Society & Youth Forum: Investing in Human Capital is a Key

During the Opening Session of the “Arab Civil Society and Youth Forum”, held in Cairo, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, highlighted the key role of civil society and the youth in Arab communities in strengthening the development and civilization of the Arab world. He pointed out that "We need to shift our focus from investing in economic growth and infrastructure strategies, to a more crucial type of investment, which is investing in our people, our youth, who are the real instrument of development, its purpose, its real capital and its ultimate objective".

Aboul-Gheit raised the need to promote an “Initiative on Investing in Human capital as a mean to address the challenges faced by the Arab region and the practical experiences established around the world,” further explaining that “This type of investment is the most successful way to achieve the expected economic and social growth".
