Qatar Trade Balance Surplus

In the third quarter of this year, Qatar's commodity trade surplus increased by 35.8 percent year-on-year to about 50 billion riyals, according to data released by the country's Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
The increase in the trade surplus contributed to the increase in the value of exports during the third quarter by 32.3 percent to reach about 80 billion riyals supported by high oil and gas prices.
In contrast, commodity imports to Qatar grew by 27% to QAR 29.7 billion. The total value of the surplus of the country's trade balance reached QAR 141 billion at the end of the first nine months of this year, an increase of 37 percent compared to the same period of 2017, supported by export growth to 228 billion riyals, and the increase of imports’ value to 86 billion riyals.
