United Arab Emirates ranked 9th in the world's top economic performance for 2018, scoring 25.63 points, according to the IAREM Index, published annually by The Independent Australian Newspaper.
The Index is based on a number of International reports, including the Heritage Foundation Index of Economic Freedom, the World Bank's Doing Business Report, the Canadian Fraser Institute and other global research institutions. It consists of 8 main components: GDP growth, average wealth, jobs, inflation, and taxes, as well as both net Government debt and economic freedom.
Iceland ranked first in the rankings, followed by Singapore and Hong Kong, surpassing major economies such as South Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, China, Australia, the United States, New Zealand, and others.
