The First Nuclear Research Reactor in Saudi Arabia

During his visit to King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, laid the foundation stone for seven strategic projects in the fields of renewable energy, atomic energy, water desalination, gene therapy, and aircraft industry.
Among these projects, three are of major importance, namely, the first nuclear research reactor and a center for the development of aircraft structures.
Bin Salman also inaugurated the Central Laboratory of the Saudi Human Genome and a solar water desalination plant in Al Khafji. Incubators program like “Bader”, the program that currently heads the Arab Network for ICT Incubators and the United Arab Emirates Technical Cities, have also been launched in Dammam, Qassim, Madinah, and Abha. Among the strategic projects that Crown Prince laid the foundation stone on, is also the desalination plant in Yanbu.
