Kuwait's budget recorded a large surplus of 2.2 billion dinars during the first six months of the fiscal year 2018-2019, following the sharp rise in oil prices, which exceeded the barrier of $ 80 per barrel during the month of September.
The monthly statistics issued by the Ministry of Finance on the revenues achieved by Kuwait during the first half of the fiscal year 2018-2019 recorded a total revenue of KD 10.3 billion, an increase of 47 percent over the expected revenues for the period, compared to expenses of KD 5.8 billion, and commitments amounted to 1.1 billion dinars.
According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance, the budget surplus came after deducting one billion dinars in favour of the reserve for future generations. The budget recorded a surplus before deduction of 3.3 billion dinars. Kuwait's revenues accounted for 68.5 percent of the total estimated amount of KD 15.09 billion.
