Unemployment Rate in Jordan Rose to 18.7%

Jordan's unemployment rate rose to 18.7% in the second quarter of 2018 from 18.4% in the previous quarter and 18% in 2017’s quarter, according to the data from the Jordanian Department of Statistics.
The unemployment rate among males was 16.6%, compared to 26.8% percent among females, and was high among university graduates reaching 23.5% compared to other levels of education, with 55.8% having secondary education and higher, while 44.2% holding less than secondary educational qualifications.
In addition to that, the ratio of the tax burden to GDP in Jordan was 26.5 percent in 2017, splitting into the following shares: indirect taxes at 17.3 percent, direct taxes at 3.7 percent, and social security deductions at 5.5 percent.
