Qatar's Domestic Liquidity Surges by 10.3%

Domestic liquidity at the Qatari Banking System at the end of July 2018 was 10.3% higher y.o.y. It rose from 146.48 billion US dollars at the end of July 2017 to about 161.56 billion dollars US dollar at the end of July this year, recording an increase of about 15.08 billion US dollars on an annual basis, according to the financial statements issued by Qatar Central Bank.
The increase in local liquidity in the banking system was driven by strong growth in foreign currency deposits, which jumped 29.56% higher on a year-on-year basis. Foreign deposits in foreign currencies, rose to $58.62 in July 2018 from about $45.24 billion in the same period of 2017, recording an increase of about 13.35 billion dollars.
