The Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organized a seminar presented by the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Brussels, Mohammed Issa Abu Shehab, entitled " Opportunities and Investments: Deepening UAE Economic Partnerships", in the presence of Arab Ambassadors accredited in Brussels and Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers Dr. Khaled Hanafi, a number of officials from the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Federation of Belgian Chambers, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and members of the Board of Directors, businesswomen and businessmen.
"The importance of the size and quality of investments carried out by the largest Belgian companies in the UAE, which is one of the largest projects in the country, and indicates the importance of investment opportunities in the UAE," he said, pointing out the importance of the investment and commercial market in the EU countries for UAE and Gulf region and the long history of trade exchange between the two parties. "
Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of UAC, said: "We are keen to develop relations between the Union and the EU institutions, especially in the field of digital transformation and artificial intelligence, looking forward for the important role played by the Union in the field of economic transformation and cooperation between the countries of the two shores of the Mediterranean sea, stressing that "there are real opportunities for the development of business in the field of trade and investment, including those with the benefit for both parties."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber, Qaisar Hijazin, revealed that trade between the Arab countries and Belgium reached 19.5 billion euros in 2017, a 5% increase compared to 2016, considering that "the UAE is the first Arab trade partner for Belgium, where the volume of trade between the two countries amounted more than 6 billion euros in 2017.
