President & Secretary General of UAC Meets with League of Arab States Secretary General

President Al-Kabariti met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, and Ambassadors Hossam Zaki and Kamal Hassan Ali.
During the meeting, Senator Raja Al-Kabariti thanked Aboul-Gheit for his cooperation with the Union in organizing the "Arab Private Sector Forum in Preparation for the Fourth Arab Economic and Social Development Summit", scheduled to be held in January 2019 in Beirut, Lebanon under the slogan “The Fourth Industrial Revolution to achieve a more inclusive Arab economy." The aim of the forum is to crystallize the aspirations of the Arab private sector and enhance its role in achieving a more developed and inclusive Arab economic development and integration, and to formulate these aspirations in a memorandum to the Arab leaders participating in the summit. The President of the Union invited the Secretary-General of the League to participate in the 6th Arab Conference for Investment in Food Security organized by the Union in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of the Governor of Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, on 14 and 15 November 2018.
Moreover, in coordination of joint Arab-economic action, the Secretary-General of the League welcomed Kabariti's invitation to host the next meeting of the Higher Coordination Committee for joint Arab action at the Union's headquarters in Beirut in June 2019 under his personal chairmanship and the participation of all specialized Arab economic organizations and specialized associations.
They also discussed the preparations for holding the 18th session of the Conference of Arab Businessmen and Investors in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the first quarter of 2019, which is organized by the League of Arab States, the Union of Arab Chambers and the Arab Institution for Investment Guarantee and Export Credit.
The meeting discussed the ongoing preparations for the first conference of Arab Businessmen & Investors with the central Asian countries and Azerbaijan in Amman, Jordan, during the year 2018. The Secretary General of the League was also briefed on the activities of the Union of Arab Chambers in activating the Arab-Indian Chamber of Commerce.
On his behalf, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States praised during the meeting the role played by the Union in the context of encouraging the activities of the Arab private sector, which contributes effectively to improve the economic conditions in various Arab countries and improve the living standards of their peoples. Mr. Aboul Gheit also showed his satisfaction with the project that the Union is attending on the subject of the digital Arab market which is intended to be implemented so that the Arab nation has a wide electronic Arab market. He also stressed the League's readiness to cooperate with the Union of Arab Chambers with what serves the economy and Arab integration.
