In the presence of the Vice President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, His Excellency Hamilton Mourao, and under the patronage of the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Embassy of Brazil in Emirates Event: "Brazil – UAE Amazon Economic Sustainability Forum", in Dubai - United Arab Emirates, on October 3, 2021.

The event is expected to attract the participation of many decision makers, businessmen and representatives of Emirati and Brazilian companies.

Relations between Brazil and the Arab world continued to grow in 2020 and beyond in various sectors and with most Arab countries, especially with the United Arab Emirates, despite the catastrophic repercussions of the “Covid-19” pandemic and its negative repercussions on international trade relations.

There is still a lot of untapped economic potential, especially in the area of sustainable development, especially in the Amazon region, which has huge opportunities and potential. There is a need to discuss potential partnerships to sponsor and fund initiatives and projects aimed at developing this region, and to commit to innovative models that conserve its biodiversity.

The organization of this forum comes in light of the new policy for the Amazon region adopted by the Brazilian government in early 2020, in conjunction with the revitalization of the National Council of the Amazon Region, under the leadership of Vice President Hamilton Mourao. This council coordinates the actions of the Brazilian government for the protection, preservation and sustainable development of the region - a region that includes nine Brazilian states within the Amazon basin. The expansion of the forest-based bioeconomy in the Amazon region presents vast avenues for investment in new opportunities, which combine sustainable and inclusive productive activities with investment in research, innovation, employment generation and income security for the local population. The participation of the private sector and the promotion of international investments in the Amazon region is vital to the future of the dynamic economy, and thus to alignment with the goals of sustainable development and the preservation of the environment and the health of the planet in which we live.

The forum also comes in light of the high level of synergy and understanding in relations between Brazil and the Arab countries in the field of the international sustainable development agenda, and the great opportunities we have for cooperation in preserving such an important biome, mainly through building and developing partnerships between the Arab and Brazilian private sectors. , to identify and develop sustainable business models that bring social, economic and environmental benefits to future generations for both countries and the world at large.

The UAE is an ideal partner for Brazil in this regard, especially as it has taken tangible steps on the path of economic sustainability, with a remarkable expansion of investments from the public and private sectors in the areas of sustainable development, based on modern technologies. In line with Vision 2021 and the National Agenda, it is expected that 27% of energy needs will be generated from clean energy sources, and greenhouse gas emissions per capita will decrease, while the average per capita oil consumption will be achieved by about 5 tons by 2021.
